retrospective

Last year was the first time I did a photo retrospective, posting 20 of my favorite photos from 2013, and I wanted to do something similar for this year.

2014 has been a wonderful year of change. Just this past August, I got married and our good friends over at Candeo Photo photographed our wedding. We couldn’t have been more happy! 2014 was also a transitional year for me photographywise, as it marked my full changeover to using a small, more compact mirrorless camera. The Olympus OM-D E-M5 has definitely changed the way that I shoot and how I approach photography, and even inspired me to create a brand new website dedicated to small camera photography, Less Gear || More Photos. I also did a few more family sessions, took some great trips, photographed a concert and even caught an episode of Girls filming in New Paltz. So much has happened in just one short year, 2015 can only be better. I hope you enjoy my 20 favorite photos of 2014!

2013 was an interesting year in photography for me. I switched away from using a DSLR in favor of a smaller, more portable camera, and at the same time attempted to do more “people” photography, concentrating not only on landscapes. I also feel like I became much more obsessed with night and long exposure photography, to the point where it became hard for me to take a picture without a 10 stop ND filter and a 20 second exposure anymore. 🙂

This is the first time I’ve done “20 favorites” type of post. I had wanted to divide it up into landscapes/people/things etc…but sometimes it’s just really hard to group photographs into certain genres. I thought it would be nicer to just grab 20 of my favorites from this past year and have them all in one spot. Enjoy!
