Spring bike ride and tumblr

Today seemed a good a day as any to get on our bikes and head south down the Walkill Valley Rail trail towards Gardiner.  I’ve been talking about doing this for a while, last year we headed north up the rail trail to Rosendale, so I wanted to see what the south end had in store.

Today was a cool 70 degrees and the whole ride was filled with wildlife (rabbits, snakes, chipmunks, squirrels, horses, cows, sheep, goats, and plenty of birds), farms and lots of lilac bushes.  A few shots from the day are below.

But first, an announcement!  In an effort to reach more corners of the internet and increase my exposure I’ve started another blog (not to replace this one) on tumblr.  You can find it at joeturic.tumblr.com.  If you happen to use tumblr or are curious, you should join so you can follow that blog as well, or just grab the RSS feed.

You may also notice that the website has some new icons in the top right – it’s from here that you can access any of the sites that I’m active on.  Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Flickr, the RSS feed for the blog or email.  Check things out, add feeds to your RSS readers and tell your friends 🙂

Spring is here! (almost)

I think it’s about time to dust off the blog and give an update as to what’s been going on.

Many of you may know that I was showing at Robibero Winery in New Paltz for close to a year.  Showing my photography there was excellent.  As a new winery with nothing on the walls a year ago, my photographs of the Hudson Valley were able to instantly add some local charm and beauty.  There are some other artists moving into the space, and as a result, I’ll no longer be showing there (any ideas or suggestions for where to show next are appreciated!). 🙂

Now onto the important stuff – Spring is almost here, which means ample opportunities for some great photography as the ground begins to thaw, trees start to bud and the nights get longer and warmer.  That means that this blog should be showing more pictures soon.

I’ve had two opportunities to photograph my friends’ child, Claire.  Once at 5 months and more recently at her 1st birthday party.  You can’t ask for more with a kid like this.  Cute?  Check.  Playful?  Check.  Chubby cheeks?  Check.  Photographing her is always a lot of fun.
